Paul J. Carniol, M.D., FACS, is a board-certified Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Otolaryngologist in Summit, New Jersey. He received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency in plastic surgery. In addition to his residency at the University of Pennsylvania, he also completed a residency in Otolaryngology and Head and Neck surgery at Harvard.
Dr. Carniol is a Clinical Professor at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He is the President of the Board of Medical Examiners of New Jersey and currently serves on the Executive Committee Board of Medical Examiners New Jersey. Dr. Carniol is Past President of the Medical Society of New Jersey where he has has been a member for over 30 years and he is also the Past President of the New Jersey Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.
For over 10 years Dr. Carniol has been selected as one of the top plastic surgeons in the country by the Consumer’s Research Council of America. He is also listed by Castle Connolly in the New York Metropolitan region. He has been responsible for editing and co-editing six medical books for physicians and has lectured at numerous medical meetings across the United States and internationally, on subjects related to the latest devices and procedures in plastic surgery. The most recent book on Minimally Invasive Facial Plastic Surgery which he co-edited with Dr. Fred Fedok, published by Thieme, and has English and Spanish editions.
An active member of his community, Dr. Carniol believes in community service. He has volunteered on the Board of the New Jersey Parkinson’s Association, HTTV, and serves as a member of the New Providence Emergency Response Team which works through the OEM (Office of Emergency Management). As a New Jersey resident, these groups are important to him because of major storms that have affected the area over the last few years, including the infamous hurricane Sandy. He is also a volunteer on the New Providence Board of Health.
Besides donating to numerous charities, he is actively involved in fundraising. This includes participating in the Torch Run which raises funds for the Special Olympics. The Torch Run is sponsored by multiple New Jersey Police Departments.
He currently resides in Summit, New Jersey with his wife Renie.
