AMPAC Campaign School
Overview
Recognized as one of the top programs in the country, AMPAC’s Campaign School molds participants into winning political strategists who help elect friends of medicine. Participants are broken into campaign “staff” teams and apply what they learn in exercises for strategy, vote targeting, social media, paid advertising, and public speaking.
This comprehensive program is renowned for its use of simulated campaigns for electing a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, complete with demographics, voting statistics, and candidate biographies. Insider tactics are taught by experts currently advising campaigns at every level and from both sides of the political spectrum.

When
The 2025 AMPAC Campaign School was in-person from September 11-14, 2025, at the AMA offices in Washington, DC. The 2026 Campaign School dates have not yet been announced. Please check back for updates.
Who Can Attend
Attendees include physicians, resident physicians, fellows, medical students, and their spouses interested in becoming more involved in politics. Participants range from those attracted to grassroots efforts to those considering becoming a candidate for elected office. No matter where you are in the process, you will develop a new understanding of how campaigns are run. As a graduate of the AMPAC program, candidates will rely on you to give them advice on strategy, messaging, and campaign plans.
Registration Cost
Registration fee is $350 for AMA members/spouses and $1,000 for non-AMA members. This fee is waived for AMA resident physicians, fellows, and medical students. Space is limited and the AMPAC Board will review and select four participants from the pool of qualified resident, fellow, and student AMPAC member applicants.
Participants are responsible for their travel to/from Washington, DC and hotel accommodations (AMPAC staff will provide participants with a list of nearby hotels within walking distance of the AMA offices). AMA covers faculty, materials, and all meals during the meeting. Participants are required to bring a laptop or Wi-Fi-enabled tablet with them.
