Have you run for public office? What was the result? 

Yes. Alderman at Large, City of Franklin. Top vote getter in a field of 13 for 4 positions. 

Have the programs helped in your political careers? How? 

Yes. The takeaway is to develop a message and stay on it. I found this helpful during the campaign forums and debates. 

Have the programs helped in your medical/advocacy careers? How? 

Yes, in being able to deliver a consistent message in a professional concise way. 

What was the most important thing you learned from AMPAC programs? 

Stay on message once you have developed your plan. 

What would you say to members of the medical community thinking about becoming involved in politics? 

We must become more involved with the political process and quit sitting on the sidelines while our profession is being assailed on multiple sides. By being proactive, we can continue to craft the ever-changing health care system by people who understand patients and understand patient care.
