Chair, Political Education Committee, AMPAC Board of Directors
Appointed to the AMPAC Board of Directors in 2014, Benjamin Z. Galper, MD MPH, chairs the Political Education Committee and serves on the Congressional Review Committee. Dr. Galper specializes in Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Cardiology and is the Director of the Structural Heart Disease Program at the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group in McLean Virginia.
Dr. Galper received his medical degree with distinction from the Albert Einstein School of Medicine in New York in May 2007, and also received a Masters in Public Health from Harvard University in June of 2007. He completed his residency at Columbia University Medical Center in 2011 where he also served as Chief Medical Resident, and his cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowships at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in 2014 and 2016 respectively.
Service to organized medicine has been an important part of Dr. Galper’s early career. He has served in many leadership positions within the AMA, including: Councilor on the AMA Council of Long Range Planning (2004-05); Chair of the Medical Student Section (2006-07); and Chair of the Resident and Fellow Section (2010-11). He currently serves as an Alternate-Delegate to the AMA House of Delegates seated with the American College of Cardiology.
Dr. Galper lives in Potomac, Maryland with his wife Merav who is a Musculoskeletal Radiologist with the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group and their two young children.
