Stephen A. Imbeau, MD

Chair, AMPAC Board of Directors

Dr. Imbeau was elected as Chair of the AMPAC Board of Directors in December 2020. Dr. Imbeau is a board-certified internist and allergy-immunologist in private practice at the Allergy, Asthma and Sinus Center in Florence, South Carolina. He has also been Assistant Clinical Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston since 1980.

Dr. Imbeau received his medical degree from the University of California-San Francisco and completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in allergy and immunology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and Allergy and Immunology.

Dr. Imbeau has a long record of service to organized medicine. He is past Chair of the Southeastern Delegation to the AMA, and also a Past Chair of the South Carolina Delegation Chair. Dr. Imbeau was President of the South Carolina Medical Association from 1998-99. From 2003-04, he was the Allergy Advisor to the AMA Relative Value Update Committee (RUC) and from 2002-04, represented the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology on the AMA Consortium on Physicians Improvements and Outcomes. He served as President of the Joint Council of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology from 2008-10 and is currently past-Chair of the College of Allergy’s Advocacy Council.

Dr. Imbeau has also been a vigorous advocate for his fellow physicians in the political arena. He has served as Chairman (1996-97), Vice-Chairman (1994-96) and Treasurer (1992-1994) of South Carolina Medical Association’s PAC (SOCPAC). For his efforts on behalf of his patients and profession, Dr. Imbeau has been honored by both the South Carolina Senate and House of Representatives.

Dr. Imbeau resides in Florence, South Carolina with his wife Shirley.
